Nurses for the Nations Advisory Board

 

David Baxter, M.D.,  is Associate Professor of Medicine at Mercer University School of Medicine, Memorial University Medical Center; Savannah, Georgia campus. He is also on the Board of Trustees for the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Baptist’s and involved in bringing compassionate medical and spiritual relief to poor countries all over the world. Dr. Baxter brings his knowledge from years of service operations and medical outreach through the IMB Board to Nurses for the Nations.  We welcome his international medical experience and expertise he brings to Nurses for the Nations.

Ramon V. Meguiar, M.D., is the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Memorial University Medical Center, Savannah, Georgia.  He is an associate clinical professor at the Medical College of Georgia and assistant professor at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia.  Dr. Meguiar is a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of numerous professional organizations. He has donated his time to medical relief work in Ghana, Zimbabwe and Nigeria and brings a wealth of knowledge and medical expertise to Nurses for the Nations.      

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Julia Melissa Bearden Fine Ph.D is Professor of Indiana State University School of Nursing with a FNP certificate post – masters from Ball State University and Ph.D from the University of  Texas at Austin, Graduate Studies in Nursing. She is a member of the AANP (American Association of Nurse Practitioners), the NONPF (National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty), Sigma Theta Tau International and AWHONN (Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses). Julie has served on numerous college and university committees during her 16 years at Indiana State in addition to several task forces: working with formation of the new College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services and Chair with the structure committee. She also served on the Faculty Senate executive committee. She was a board member of the Council for Domestic Abuse (CODA) for eight years, and assisted with jump starting the Vigo County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Julie presently serves on the board of the Atsina Charity Medical Clinic, which cares for the poor in Accra, Ghana. We welcome her experience and expertise to the advisory board of Nurses for the Nations.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Julia   Edward J Peitler Ph.D, is our newly appointed Board of Advisor for Nurses for the Nations. Doctor Peitler comes to us with years of experience; holding a Ph.D in counseling from St Johns University in New York, an MA in Clinical Psychology and extensive studies in Rome Italy in Bioethics at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum. He has been actively involved in ministry work globally and continues to work extensively with the poor and under-served in Guatemala through medical ministry.  He is former Director for Catholic Charities, is married to his wife for 39 years and has two sons. Nurses for the Nations is excited to have Edward on  as our advisor and welcomes his experience and expertise.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             John Mark Carpenter is our newly appointed spiritual advisor for Nurses for the Nations. John experienced the call on his life in 1947 and served as Pastor in numerous Baptist Churches in Georgia until 1961 when he was appointed onto the foreign mission board, to serve as a missionary in West Africa as a Church Planter. John planted and cultivated approximately fifty churches and established and directed a Pastor training school in Greenville, Liberia. He retired from the Southern Baptist International Mission Board in 1993 and as served as interim and or pastor of four churches. John is deeply rooted in service and is an experienced spiritual teacher, advisor and seasoned pastor with literally years of experience and wisdom behind him in the mission fields. He is scriptually rooted and brings a wealth of knowledge to N4N with matters of a spiritual and moral nature.

 

Roland Bergeron, President and Executive Director of Water of Life is N4N’s partner and Board Advisor for N4N.  When you meet Roland and feel his heart and passion for the ministry, you know immediately that Water of Life is not just about drilling water wells. WOL is passionate about sharing the TRUE water of everlasting life to the corners of the world that have never even heard the name of Jesus Christ. Besides running WOL, Roland also owned and managed his own homebuilding company called Bergeron Builders and has been involved with numerous charities and boards; including Habitat for Humanity, the SC Home Builders Self Insurance Fund and the BB&T Upstate SC Advisory Board. Roland and his wife Jane have two children and five grandchildren. Nurses for the Nations is excited to bring Roland on board as an Advisor to N4N and to form a service-model partnership with WOL that endorses the transformational model of care and holistic intervention for the indigenous.

 

Shonah Jefferson, ESQ., from the law firm of HunterMaclean, P.C., of Savannah, Georgia represents Nurses for the Nations as legal council. Shona Jefferson has extensive experience in the area of low-income multi-family housing, and works with hospitals and universities as borrowers of municipal bond proceeds and purchasers of municipal reinvestment products. Additionally, Shonah represents private businesses in the acquisition, construction, financing and development of commercial properties arena. Shonah has traveled to India, assisting with compassionate mission work for men, women and children who are poor and under-served.
